Now owned by Nikon, SLM Solutions plans to use ADIRA’s AddCreative technology to improve its current product assortment. In 2015, a Portuguese business revealed the concept that metal PBF may be scaled by presenting a large metal PBF 3D printer based on technology developed by Fraunhofer. Since then, however, news about its development using the Adira AddCreative technology platform has been sparse. SLM Solutions’s huge NXT XII 600 led subsequent manufacturers like Velo3D, EOS (AMCM), EPlus3D, and BLT to release ever-larger systems.

SLM Solutions, now a part of the massive Nikon group, plans to improve its complete solutions offering to meet the varying requirements of its customers in all AM applications, from the most common to the most extreme in terms of size. The Adira AddCreative technology will be added to SLM Solutions’ offerings in the ultra large format market. With this announcement, SLM’s dedication to being at the forefront of the additive manufacturing industry continues to grow stronger.

Among the technologies that SLM Solutions has acquired is Adira’s Addcreative technology, a cutting-edge 3D printing system based on Fraunhofer ILT’s movable process head technology. SLM’s new technology, which can accommodate up to 12 lasers and operate on a 1m by 1m build platform, will slot in between the company’s NXG XII 600 series and their newly announced large-scale additive manufacturing (AM) system.

Applications in the Aerospace, Energy, and Defence sectors can benefit from the Adira AddCreative technology because of its adaptability, scalability, and low cost.
